Quilting Anthems: When My Two Greatest Loves Finally Collided

Quilting Anthems: When My Two Greatest Loves Finally Collided

ย

If you've been around here for any length of time, you know me as a quilter. You've seen my fabric stash (no judgment please), my ruler collection (also no judgment), and my sewing room which is equal parts creative sanctuary and organized chaos.

But there's another side of me that has been part of my life even longer than quilting.

I am a songwriter.

And for the longest time, these two worlds lived separately. One world was fabric, thread, and rotary cutters. The other was melodies, lyrics, and late nights writing words that wouldn't leave me alone until I got them out.

Until now.

Quilting Anthems is my brand new 9-song album, and it is exactly what it sounds like. Songs about quilting. Written by a quilter. For quilters. And honestly? It might be the most authentically ME thing I have ever created.

Why I Wrote an Album About Quilting

Here is the truth. The longer I quilted, the more I realized that quilting and songwriting speak the exact same language.

Both start with raw materials and transform them into something beautiful. Both require patience, precision, and a willingness to rip it out and start completely over. Both hold memory. Both carry love. Both leave something behind long after we are gone. And both, at their very best, make people feel less alone.

Every song on this album was written the way I piece a quilt. Starting with a feeling, cutting it into pieces, laying those pieces out until they made sense, and stitching them together into something whole.

These songs are quilts made of words. And I meant every single stitch.

What's On the Album

Here's a peek at all 9 songs and what they're about:

1. Wind Em Up An upbeat pop-rock anthem about the most important step before you start quilting. Winding your bobbins. Because bobbin chicken is a dangerous game and we have ALL lost. If you have ever run out of thread mid-seam, this song is your anthem.

2. Quilting Math A doo-wop comedy song about the universal quilter truth that the pattern says two and a half yards and you buy five. Because in quilting math, two plus two always equals buy more fabric.

3. The Ruler A 70s rock love song about my very first 6x24 ruler and everything that came after. If your ruler collection has taken over an entire drawer (or two), you already know exactly how this story goes.

4. Made With Love A joyful folk-pop song about the meaning behind handmade quilts as gifts. Because when I give you a quilt, I am not giving you fabric. I am giving you hours. Every stitch is a little hug.

5. Fabric of Our Lives A tender ballad written for every quilting guild, sewing circle, and group of friends who show up week after week and make each other better. Different pieces, different hands, something beautiful together.

6. Folded Generations A warm, proud ballad about the quilts passed down through generations. The ones in cedar chests made by hands we'll never fully know. This one is for every woman who came before us with a needle and a vision.

7. Stitched Together A tender waltz about the people we were always meant to find. Whether that's a spouse, a best friend, a sister, or a mother, some people were always meant to be pieced together with us.

8. Scraps of You The most emotional song on the album. A heartbreaking and beautiful ballad about memory quilts, using a loved one's clothing to keep them close after they're gone. If you've ever made or received a memory quilt, this one will reach right into your chest.

9. Quilts in Heaven The closing track. The one that started as a question and became a comfort I didn't know I needed. If quilts can bring this much warmth and peace here on earth, there must be quilts in heaven too.

A Note to Every Quilter Reading This

I wrote this album for you. Not in a general, vague sense. I mean I literally sat down and thought about YOU. The quilter who winds five bobbins just in case. The quilter who can't walk past a fabric store without going in. The quilter who has a stash that is definitely getting a little out of hand. The quilter who has given away quilts that took months to make because someone they loved needed one. The quilter who has sat at their machine and cried, and sewed, and healed.

This album is for all of us.

Every song is a stitch in something I hope feels like home when you hear it.
